Home Letterbox Project – finished

This letterbox project has taken me around six months to complete.  That’s working on retirement pace !!! ha.  Being an ex Cabinetmaker it was good to get my teeth into it again.   Even though it was a long project I enjoyed doing it.  But my perfectionism has dropped off a bit, I let a few things go that I’d never let go.  Thank goodness for putty and paint.

To start with I got two fence post and spliced them together, glued and bolted.  Very strong joint.

Adding more to it has made it a wee bit heavier.  It’s now starting to shape up Getting keen to have it finished.

Fully assembled, didn’t realize how heavy it was going to get.  Just have to sand it up then it’ll be ready for painting.  That part I’m not looking forward to it too much.  One undercoat and two finish coats.  Then a Black stripe down the middle of the front.  After painting the Dove glued it on top with a clear sealant.

Job done, cemented in.  Being a while since I’ve dug a hole, my steel bar seems to have got heavier !!!  But now it’s in.

Now I can clean up the garage and get the car back in.

This will make the Post Lady happy as she use to have to ride her bike up the driveway.  The last owner had the letterbox up on the House, but after some changing regulations, the letterbox has to be down by the roadside.

Experiencing Online Shopping

Already my online shopping is starting to grow, it is very easy and exciting.  I’m very interested in some of the Sites I’ve visited.  They all have great selections, good choices for buying family presents, nick knacks for house and garden, etc.

As I’ve mention before, the Sites I’ve been looking at have been tried and tested by friends.  Who have been using some of them for a while, with no problem.

My latest buy is these casual shoes from eBay, their service was brilliant and no “Delivery Cost”.  I didn’t take notice how long the delivery was, but it was only around two weeks which was better than I expected.  They are very comfortable shoes and I’ve always liked slip-on’s, I wear them everywhere now.

I’ve started this Online Shopping at a good time with Xmas just around the corner.  No, I won’t be buying them all with shoes. Lol

This might all sound pretty normal for some old hands, but it’s been an exciting venture for me, with more to come.

Since my Heart Attack last December (2016) I’d stopped all my home gym work.  I wasn’t doing much though, just enough to help with my jogging and keep reasonably fit.  But I still found it hard to stop everything.

Eight months down the track, I felt good enough to start again.  I’m walking 2 – 3 times a week around 40mins with about 400m slow jog to finish.  Look out Olympics.

The Warehouse had a good sale on exercise bikes, I thought that’ll be a good way to get back in doing some gym work.  So I bought one, just finished assembling it.  Not before putting the base feet on back to front (senior moment) and having to take them off and starting again.

So now I’ve started back with some gym work.  Boy those weights seem to have got heavier in that short time.  I’ll just settle for “4 reps” of my program for now.  Using the exercise bike first to warm up is really good, I started peddling for 2ks got off the bike and felt like I had no legs, probably had the tension a bit high !!!

The next day I didn’t feel too bad, muscles weren’t that bad, so It’s onward and upwards.  It’s a bit hard at the moment to get into a routine because of the weather.  But I still feel good with what I’m doing.

So if you’re not doing anything, try a little exercise of some sort, and you’ll feel good within yourself.  Summer is on its way and if you want to get into those Speedos or Bikinis better start soon !!!
